What role will cinematic experience play in the collective reimagining and practice of modern Buddhism across the globe? Responding to the 2026 conference theme, “Future/s,” this special screening event invites four filmmakers—Edward A. Burger, Lugyal Bhum, Donagh Coleman, and Dhondup T. Rekjong—to present original short-form works that creatively reflect on the cinematic futures of Buddhism. All four shorts will be screened in sequence, followed by a conversation among the filmmakers and an audience Q&A.
This event will dovetail with the ACLS/Ho Buddhist Studies Program reception, providing a space for continued engagement and dedicated conversation among scholars, artists and practitioners envisioning what lies ahead.
