Receiving Nicaea Today — Reformed Voices in Global Ecumenical Conversation
The World Communion of Reformed Churches (WCRC) invites scholars and practitioners to engage its landmark volume, Receiving Nicaea Today: Global Voices from Reformed Perspectives (Evangelische Verlagsanstalt, 2025). Launched at the WCRC General Council in Chiang Mai, Thailand, this nearly 700-page collection brings together 34 contributions from Reformed, Roman Catholic, Orthodox, Methodist, Lutheran, and Anglican theologians — with half its authors drawn from the Global South — to critically examine the Nicene Creed as a living confession for the contemporary church.
This event situates the volume within the WCRC's broader theological programme, exploring how the communion's commitments to justice, decolonial theology, ecumenism, and confessional renewal animate its engagement with Nicaea's legacy. The conversation will address themes of creedal hermeneutics, ecclesial governance, and the movement from creed to confessing in worship and mission — across 100+ countries and diverse Reformed traditions.
