Abstract for Online Program Book (maximum 150 words)

A SACRED PIECE OF HOME: WASHINGTON D:C. is a documentary series about places of worship in the D.C. Area made by distinct ethno-religious communities. The multi-faceted series lies at the intersection of religion, architecture, ethnicity, and immigration history. It includes all major religions and many ethnic groups – English, Irish, German, African, Greek, Russian, Ukrainian, Cambodian, Vietnamese, Korean and Indian. Interviews with scholars, authors, clergy and congregants inform us about the founding of Greek and Russian Orthodox churches, a Hindu Temple and a Mosque. Also featured are a Gothic Cathedral, a Catholic Basilica, neo-classical churches, many versions of a Synagogue, a Sikh Gurdwara, a Zoroastrian temple, a Buddhist temple and Jain mandir.
